Hang Seng opens higher, Shanghai flat

Stocks in Hong Kong opened up 0.80 percent following a record close on Wall Street in response to an upbeat report on the US economy. The benchmark Hang Seng Index rose 183.14 points to 23,085.14 in early trade.
In Shanghai, shares were flat in morning trading as investors awaited economic statistics for 2013 next week.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index slipped 0.06 percent, or 1.20 points, to 2,022.15..—AFP
