Nikkei closes in on 16,000 mark

Stocks in Tokyo opened 0.88 percent higher, tracking gains on Wall Street as the US dollar remained firm. The Nikkei 225 index gained 139.90 points to 15,954.27 in the first few minutes of trading.—AFP
