Hang Seng changes course at mid day

Stocks in Hong Kong slipped 0.25 percent in the morning session, tracking losses in Shanghai after data showed Chinese manufacturing growth slowed in December.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index edged down 57.23 points to 23249.16 on turnover of HK$25.40 billion.
Trading began for the year on a positive note. Stocks advanced 0.63 percent in the first few minutes adding 146.37 points to 23,452.76.—AFP
