Arrested Indian consul does not have full immunity
(12-18 15:10)

While India clamors to arrange the return of Devyani Khobragade, 39, India's deputy consul general in New York, is facing charges that she submitted false documents to obtain a work visa for her Manhattan housekeeper, also an Indian.
Prosecutors say Khobragade claimed she paid her Indian maid US$4,500 per month but actually paid her less than US$3 per hour.
An Indian official told AP: “India's top demand right now is: Return our diplomat.’’
Khobragade would have to report to the precinct in New York every week to check in with the police.
Marie Harf, US State Department deputy spokeswoman, said Khobragade does not have full diplomatic immunity, but rather consular immunity from the jurisdiction of US courts only with respect to acts performed in the exercise of consular functions.
