Australian club penalized over doping scandal
(12-17 10:44)

Australia's National Rugby League has provisionally fined the Cronulla Sharks A$1 million and suspended coach Shane Flanagan for 12 months over the club's program of administering banned supplements to players in 2011.
Former Cronulla strength and conditioning coach Trent Elkin, now working for NRL rival Parramatta, has had his registration provisionally cancelled.
Smith said A$400,000 of the proposed A$1 million fine would be suspended if the club met a series of conditions and Flanagan's suspension may be shortened to nine months if he undertakes further education and training.
NRL chief executive Dave Smith said the Sharks, Flanagan and Elkin would have a chance to respond before punishments are confirmed.
An investigation into Cronulla's supplements program by the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority is ongoing.—AP
