|British parliament's Swansea-born deputy speaker Nigel Evans held for sex assaults
Nigel Evans (pictured), the Swansea-born deputy speaker of the British parliament who has admitted being a homosexual, has been arrested again over suspected indecent assault and sexual touching of two more victims. He had earlier denied all accusations.
Evans became deputy speaker in June 2010.
Police arrested the 55-year-old lawmaker for suspected rape, sexual assault and three indecent assaults.
Evans has served as MP for Lancashire since 1992. He has also served as spokesman for Welsh affairs.
Police in Lancashire said in a statement: “55-year-old man from Pendleton in Lancashire has today answered his bail following his arrest in May on suspicion of rape and sexual assault and in June on suspicion of three further offences of indecent assault.
"He has subsequently today been arrested on suspicion of indecent assault and sexual touching of two further victims.''
Police said the new offenses are alleged to have been committed in London between 2002 and 2009.
