|Hermès reports rise in profits, fashion and perfumes segments among top performers
Luxury label Hermès, reputed for its leather goods, fashion and accessories as well as silk scarves, reported today that half-year earnings grew 14 percent to €584.1 million euro compared wth €510.9 million in the first half of 2012.
Sales in the first half amounted to 1.76 billion, up by 11 percent on year.
In Asia, excluding Japan, sales grew 17 percent. Hermes said the China market ``displayed great vitality.''
Growth was balanced in all regions, the French company said.
Sales in France were up by 13 percent. Sales in the rest of Europe increased by 14 percent.
In the Americas, sales grew by 17 percent.
Overall, there was strong growth in ready-to-wear and fashion accessories. The segment grew by 21 percent.
Perfumes grew by 20 percent. ``The new female perfume Jour dHermès was warmly received and Terre dHermès continued its growth,'' the company said.
Watches showed negative growth.
Other sectors, including jewelry and art of living ``continued to show great potential for expansion'' growing by 40 percent, the company said. –The Standard
