|33 passengers killed, 16 injured in Malaysia tourist bus plunge near gambling resort
Thirty three passengers were killed in Malaysia today when a bus carrying 49 people plunged 30 meters into a ravine near a mountaintop tourist resort popular with Chinese and Singaporean visitors.
Local media reports said 16 have suffered injuries.
Police said the vehicle had tumbled off a steep road near the Genting Highlands, a gambling and entertainment resort about an hour's drive from the capital Kuala Lumpur.
The bus was part of a line that ferries locals and tourists between the capital and the hill resort.
Police in the area said the bus was transporting 40 to 45 people, but that their nationalities were not yet known.
Malaysian media said the accident occurred at 2:45pm.
