Xi tells Lew of shared interests
(03-19 11:14)

President Xi Jinping said China and the United States “have enormous shared interests,’’ in his first major diplomatic encounter since assuming office last week.
“In the China-US relationship, we have enormous shared interests, but of course, unavoidably, we have some differences,'' he told visiting US Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.-AFP
"I attach great importance to China's relationship with the United States,'' Xi told Jack Lew in a meeting attended by diplomats and finance officials from both governments, AP reports. "We stand ready to work with the US side to continue to develop this China-US cooperative partnership so that we will be able to open a path of co-operation between major countries.''
Also at the meeting were China's new finance minister Lou Jiwei, US Ambassador Gary Locke, an assistant Chinese foreign minister Cui Tiankai and other officials of both governments.
