Calls grow louder for RTHK chief to go
(03-15 13:13)

Dozens of people have staged a protest outside RTHK's headquarters in Kowloon Tong to demand the resignation of the Director of Broadcasting, Roy Tang Yun-kwong.
The demonstration came ahead of a meeting between management and staff over a row about editorial independence. Tang has been accused of interfering in editorial decisions and suppressing people's views. Tang has rejected the charges, RTHK reports.
A local deputy to the National People's Congress says Tang should be allowed to raise questions about the content of RTHK programs.
Ip Kwok-him of the DAB also says he does not think Tang was suppressing the views of staff.
Another NPC delegate and executive councillor, Fanny Law Fan Chiu-fun, insisted that there was no plan from the government to "fix" the broadcaster.
A political scientist from City University has urged outsiders not to intervene in the row. Cheung Chor-yung said this would only politicise the problem and make it worse.
Cheung said the Director of Broadcasting and RTHK staff needed to rebuild mutual trust to prevent further controversy.
