Income limit for public housing applicants raised

The Housing Authority decided to raise the income and asset limit for the public housing applicants.
Effective from April 1, the waiting list income and asset limits for 2013/14 will be increased by an average of 6.0 per cent and 4.2 per cent respectively. Take four-person households as an example, the monthly income limit will increase to HK$22,140 from HK$20,710 and the asset limit will go up to HK$436,000 from $418,000.
For a one-member family, income limit is lifted to HK$8,880 and income limit for two-member family is set to HK$13,750.
It is estimated that some 125,200 non-owner occupied households in the private sector, representing about 29.5 per cent of the total, will be eligible to apply for public rental housing.
