US to streamline visa applications in HK
(03-14 18:25)

The US Consulate in Hong Kong is streamlining visa-application procedures from Saturday -- a move aimed at standardising the process within China.
Applicants will soon be able to pay for their visas at 7-Eleven stores, and have their passports returned through a delivery service. Consular section chief, George Hogeman, said more than 49,000 visas were issued in Hong Kong last year -- up 40 percent from 2008, RTHK reports.
The visa approval rate for Hong Kong passport holders was over 98 percent. He said that it was very easy to get a US visa locally.
