President Xi planning 'charm offensive'
(03-14 18:21)

President Xi Jinping is expected to use his folk singer wife, Peng Liyuan, as part of a charm offensive to build Chinese "soft power" when he travels with her to South Africa later this month, RTHK reports.
The Financial Times cited people familiar with the plans. Mrs Xi, who is famous in China for her fiery performance of patriotic songs, will have her own speaking engagement as her husband attends the BRICS Summit in Durban.
