Four dead in Xinjiang knife attack
(03-08 12:45)

Several knife-wielding attackers have killed four people and wounded eight others in Xinjiang.
The regional government said the killers were members of a Uighur ethnic group. The attack occurred yesterday in Korla, in the centre of Xinjiang, RTHK reports.
Officials said that one suspect had been detained and police were searching for the others. They did not identify the ethnicity of the victims, or whether the attack was politically motivated.
Riots between Uighurs and Han Chinese in Xinjiang's capital Urumqi in 2009 killed around 200 people, leading the Communist party to tighten security in the region.
