Former TVB chief acquitted of corruption
(03-07 11:03)

The former general manager of TVB, Stephen Chan Chi-wan, has been acquitted of all corruption charges following a retrial ordered by the Court of Appeal.
Chan was accused of accepting more than HK$110,000 from Olympian City in 2010 to appear in an event at the shopping mall, without informing his then employer, TVB, RTHK reports.
Handing down sentence today, District Court Judge Poon Siu-tung said Chan had all reasonable grounds to believe he had tacit approval from TVB to host the show and be paid for it. Judge Poon said TVB had never objected to Chan taking up freelance jobs in the past, even if he didn't seek prior approval from the broadcaster.
