Russian rescuers on Wednesday recovered the bodies of five teenage boys who were trapped by an avalanche as they descended a mountain in southern Siberia, the emergencies ministry said.
One person survived Sunday's incident in the Buddhist region of Tyva on the Mongolian border while another teen was missing and presumed dead, said the ministry, AFP reports.
The boys, aged 14 to 18, were overtaken by the avalanche as they descended the Ak-Bashtyg mountain, one of the highest in the region at 3,250 metres.
Russian news reports said they had climbed the mountain to perform Buddhist religious rites.
