US plans to tackle trade secret theft
(02-21 11:17)

The US government has said it considers combating industrial espionage by hackers a top priority and has outlined a strategy against cyber-theft.
The Attorney General, Eric Holder, said the theft of trade secrets was costing American companies tens of billions of dollars a year and was also a threat to national security, RTHK reports.
The comments come amid mounting concerns over recent hacking attacks allegedly emanating from China.
The defence ministry in Beijing has said there is no proof to support such accusations.
The White House said it would step up diplomatic pressure and study whether tougher laws were needed.
It said the theft of trade secrets diminished US export prospects around the globe and put American jobs at risk.
It added that emerging trends indicated that the pace of economic espionage and trade secret theft against US corporations was accelerating.
