France sees better sentiment in factories
(02-20 17:09)

French industrial sentiment improved in February as export orders picked up, according to a survey released on Wednesday by the French statistical institute INSEE.
The index measuring the confidence of business leaders in the manufacturing industry rose by three points to 90, considerably below the long-term average of 100, AFP reports.
While pessimistic about their past activity, "business leaders consider also that their production outlook improves, even if the balance of opinion remains below their long-term average,'' said INSEE.
While export order books increased markedly, total order books were rated as nearly steady at very low levels.
The reading for the overall business climate was steady at 87 points in February.
The index for the services sector dropped four points to 86, while the construction sector dipped one point to 94.
The retail sector edged up one point to 88.
