LSD member detained for biting policewoman

A member of the League of Social Democrats has been sent to a rehabilitation centre by Eastern Court for biting a policewoman during the July 1 protest march last year.
Yim Man-wa was earlier found guilty of a charge of assaulting a police officer. Her lawyer said in mitigation that the policewoman wasn't seriously injured, RTHK reports.
Counsel also said Yim had already spent three weeks in custody since her conviction and the chance of her reoffending was low.
But the magistrate said Yim should be sent to a rehabilitation centre and rehabilitation centre and refused to grant her bail pending appeal.
