Re-granting spectrum may not help: Smartone

Re-granting one-third of the 3G mobile spectrum of existing suppliers may not help Hongkongers nor the industry, said Smartone (0315) chief Douglas Li. He said adding new suppliers will only boost the cost, which will be ultimately transferred to consumers.
Li said his firm saw roaming business declined in the first half, due to global uncertainties. The group's earnings before interest, taxes,
depreciation, and amortization, or better known as EBITDA, fell HK$76 million in the period.
