Agent has seven days to explain hotel blunder
(02-15 17:31)
3A Holidays is given seven days to address its failure to provide proper accomodation to the tourists signed up to its tours, said Travel Industry Council chairman Michael Wu Siu-ying.
Wu said the agent has arranged a total of 40 tours to Hong Kong from China, involving more than 1,000 of travellers. The agent has to explain why the tour -- supposed to rest in a hotel in Tsing Yi -- had to stay in a coach.
Wu added that the council has received complaints from two mainlanders on a tour which 3A denied to be related to. But the information provided by the tourists -- tour number, name and registration number of tour guide, and emergency contact -- all matched with what 3A previously provided to the council. The chairman said mainland authorities and Hong Kong police have been notified and probes are expected.
Joseph Tung Yiu-chung, chief executive of the council, reiterated that it is unacceptable for the agent to book no rooms for tourists as promised.
3A's executive, who was supposed to meet with Wu and Tung, did not show up.
There are 11 tours related to 3A remaining in Hong Kong for the New Year holidays.
