Mumbai collapsed bridge kills three
(02-07 19:02)

The collapse of a flyover bridge being built at Mumbai's main airport killed three people and injured another seven, Indian police said on Thursday.
"A large slab fell suddenly late last night, trapping several people underneath it. Most of them were labourers,'' senior police inspector Uttam Korekar told AFP at the site of the accident.
The injured are being treated at nearby hospitals, he said.
Police arrested three employees from engineering firm Larsen and Toubro -- which is building the bridge -- for further investigations. They were due to appear in court later Thursday.
Police alleged that certain safety measures were not taken during construction, which led to the accident. But Larsen and Toubro called the incident "unfortunate'' and denied any negligence.
The flyover is part of a major construction project for a new terminal at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.
