Stricter control on harbor safety for fireworks
(02-07 16:31)

The Marine Department will strengthen safety measures in Victoria Harbour for the Lunar New Year fireworks display on Monday. The show will start at eight in the evening and a restricted area will be set up.
A senior marine officer, Ivan Shuen, said passenger boats, which enter the harbour for the display, will be required to leave afterward in stages and in an orderly manner, RTHK reports.
The police expect close to 80,000 people will turn up to watch the Lunar New Year parade in Tsim Sha Tsui on Sunday evening, with 300,000 people on both sides of Victoria Harbour for the fireworks show on Monday. There'll be large-scale road closures on both days.
