Correctional Services Department is going to completely replace rectum check by hand with X-ray scanning amid growing human rights concern. As the system stands, inmates are checked for drugs amid other things by hand at reception centres before they carry onto other institutions. Human rights advocates and some celebrities said the change is overdue, saying check by hand is humiliating.
