Hong Kong Customs yesterday foiled a drug trafficking attempt by a passenger at Hong Kong International Airport and seized 6.6 kilograms of cocaine with an estimated street value of about hk$7.73 million. A 49-year-old man was arrested.
Customs officers yesterday afternoon intercepted a passenger arriving from Córdoba, Argentina, at the arrival hall of the airport. The officers found the cocaine soaked in the interlining of three jackets and two plastic mats in the passenger's checked-in suitcase.
The arrested man, who claimed to be unemployed, will be charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug and will appear at the Tsuen Wan Magistrates' Court tomorrow.
