Japan vehicle output up 18pc in 2012

Japan's vehicle output in 2012 rebounded 18.4 percent from the previous year to 9,942,711 units following a double-digit fall in the previous year, said the report of Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association Thursday.
By vehicle type, passenger car production increased 19.5 percent to 8,554,219 units, truck output grew 11.5 percent to 1, 266.272 units and bus production added 17.4 percent to 122,220 units, Xinhua news agency reports.
But in December alone, vehicle production fell 17.2 percent to 702,285 units for the fourth straight month of decline and exports declined 12.7 percent to 399,589 units.
