Shell profits tumble 14pc

British energy giant Royal Dutch Shell, which was recently found by a court to be partly responsible for pollution in Nigeria, said net profit slid 14 percent last year to US$26.592 billion, despite a modest upturn in the fourth quarter.
Earnings after taxation in 2012 compared with US$30.918 billion in the previous year, Shell added in its annual results statement.
