Final quarter brings more pain for Spain

Spain's economy contracted by 1.37 percent in 2012, the INE national statistics instute said in its first estimate, slightly better than the government's forecast of a 1.5 percent drop.
However gross domestic product contracted by 0.7 percent in October through December, the sharpest fall since the second quarter of 2009, AFP reports.
