Ip suggests legal route to stem baby formula traders
(01-29 11:42)
The chairwoman of the New People's Party, Regina Ip Lau Suk-yee, says the government could amend the Reserved Commodities Ordinance, to help tackle cross-border traders who buy products locally to sell for a higher price on the mainland.
Ip says the ordinance ensures sufficient reserves of certain items be maintained in Hong Kong in case of any short-term lack of supply. She says it can be amended to include infant formula, one of the goods targeted by parallel traders, RTHK reports.
