Spain jobless level surpasses 26pc

Spain's unemployment rate surged to 26.02 percent in the final quarter last year, the highest level in the nation's modern history, official data showed.
The jobless rate was up from 25.02 percent in the previous quarter. The number of unemployed climbed by 187,300 people to 5.97 million, the National Statistics Institute said, AFP reports.
