Man guilty for whistling near cop's ear
(01-22 18:19)

A construction worker has been been found guilty of attacking the police by blowing whistle aloud near the ear of policemen during the July 1 march last year. He will be sentenced in March.
Ki Chun-kei, 50, was charged unreasonably using force against the policemen. The court heard that during the demonstration, Ki went close to five auxiliary policemen and blew the whistle next to the ears. The incidents caused anger among police staff associations. The judge said Ki obviously committed the offence deliberately.
Ki was charged five counts of assault and three were convicted. Police chief supeintendent Kwan King-bun said the force respects people's freedom of assembly and expression, hoping that similar incidents will not repeat.
