(Policy Address) Head of new financial services development council named

Laura Cha Shi Mei-lun has been appointed the chairman of the newly established Financial Services Development Council.
The Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, as the ex-official member, will join the 20-strong council whose appointments will be for tw years starting today.
Cha's appointment came with no surprise as she had chaired the preparation committee for the council.
The council will be responsible to conduct policy research; work with regulatory and trade bodies to identify new opportunities; maintain a dialogue with the relevant bodies in China and overseas; facilitate the upgrading of skills and expertise through collaboration with education and training institutions, trade bodies and practitioners; and to promote Hong Kong financial services industry and Hong Kong as an international financial centre.
