Pilot scheme to ease emergency wards rush
(01-15 19:34)

The Hospital Authority will launch a pilot scheme next month, to recruit doctors from different wards at public hospitals to help handle non-urgent cases at its overcrowded accident and emergency departments.
The move is intended to ease manpower shortages and to help cope with the peak flu season, RTHK reports.
Accident and emergency departments of public hospitals are often packed with non-emergency patients. The large number of patients meant longer waits for treatment.
To ease the crowding, the HA aims to lure doctors and nurses from other parts of hospitals to the departments by paying them to work shift duties.
