Wan Chai suggests alternative protest route
(01-15 19:32)

Members of the Wanchai District Council have urged the police to do more to maintain law and order during public processions that pass through the district.
They say residents are unhappy with the traffic congestion and noise pollution, RTHK reports.
During a meeting with Wan Chai district councillors, police were told that some locals also complained about fund-raising booths slowing down the processions along the protest routes.
Councillors said residents want the police to suggest an alternative protest route or put a cap on the number of rallies going through Wan Chai.
Police said officers would do their best to ensure that all events are carried out in a smooth and peaceful manner.
