Govt may consider baby formula ad laws
(01-15 15:42)
The Government says it is not ruling out enacting new laws to ban misleading advertisements for infant milk formula, but will first see if a voluntary code of practice is effective.
A public consultation on such a code -- aimed at preventing malpractices in the advertising and marketing of infant formula -- will wrap up at the end of next month, RTHK reports.
The Under Secretary for Food and Health, Sophia Chan Siu-chee, said it's hope the voluntary code would serve as a grace period before any legislation is considered.
