Nikkei soars 1pc by break

Stocks in Tokyo were 1.26 percent higher as the yen lost ground in currency markets, shrugging off a mixed session on Wall Street. The benchmark Nikkei 225 index added 136.05 points to 10,937.62 after a three-day holiday-extended weekend, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares climbed 1.19 percent, or 10.73 points, to 909.42, AFP reports.
