Shanghai closes at 7-month high

Chinese shares ended up 3.06 percent, at a seven-month high, after the head of the country's securities regulator said more foreign investment could be allowed in the domestic equity market, dealers said.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index jumped 68.74 points to 2,311.74 on turnover of 123.6 billion yuan. The close was the highest since June 18, 2012, when the index ended at 2,316.05 points, AFP reports.
