Teenage Indian student resists rape, but set alight by attacker
(01-11 15:26)

A 14-year old Indian girl is fighting for her life in a hospital after being set alight by an attacker who had allegedly attempted to rape her. This takes the number of such reported cases in India this month to four.
The Times of India said the girl, a student in a public school, was attacked in Farrukhabad in the state of Lucknow. Police are on the hunt for the accused, who had fled.
The girl had been alone at home when a local youth, identified as Srawan alias Atendra, sneaked into the house and tried to rape her. She had resisted but the attacker doused kerosene on her and set her alight before fleeing.
Locals had taken her to hospital. She had suffered burns to 80 percent of her body, doctors said.
In another incident reported from Fatehpur district, a girl suffered multiple stab wounds when she resisted a rape bid, the paper said.
