Obama to name Lew as treasury chief

US President Barack Obama will formally nominate his White House chief of staff Jack Lew to succeed Timothy Geithner as Treasury Secretary, a US official said.
Obama will make the pick, which requires confirmation by the Senate, at 1:30 pm (Eastern Time) in the East Room of the White House, as he continues to stock his cabinet for his second term beginning on January 20, the official said, AFP reports.
