Singaporean sex-for-grades professor loses bid to defend himself
(01-10 16:43)

A Singaporean academic charged with having offered grades for sexual favors from a young female student nearly half his age has been denied a bid to represent himself in court. He is a law professor, media reports said.
Chief District Judge Tan Siong Thye rejected his request, broadcaster Channel News Asia reports today.
Law professor Tey Tsun Hang , 41, faces six charges of having corruptly obtained gifts and sex from Darinne Ko Wen Hui, 23, in exchange for better grades, CNA said.
The prosecution has lined up 14 witnesses for the trial.
Tey asked permission to be co-counsel to lawyer Peter Low who represents him at the trial.
