Freest economy status at risk
(01-10 14:36)
The Heritage Foundation has warned that concerns over the rule of law could push Hong Kong to lose its title as the world's freest economy. This came as the foundation put the territory atop its list for the 19th time, RTHK reports.
Hong Kong's score was down slightly from last year, because of increased government spending relative to GDP and a rise in inflation.
Terry Miller from the foundation said concerns over the rule of law stemmed from public perceptions of corruption levels. He said while Hong Kong was still one of the better performers, there had been declines over the years.
