HK Electric staffer denies knowledge of boat trip guidelines

The Hong Kong Electric employee who organized the fireworks boat ride in October told a commission of inquiry that he had never heard of any guidelines from the Marine Department.
HKE staff recreation head Fok Wing-kei said the power firm had organized such tours every year since the 90s. The company issued a safety notice to those who joined the tour, he said.
The notice, produced at the hearing did not mention life jackets.
Fok said he had never received any guidelines on the National Day fireworks.
On October 1, two ferries collided off Lamma island resulting in the death of 39 people. The inquiriy is attemtping to ascertain the causes of the tragedy.
