40 mainlanders held over parallel trading

Forty two suspects were held in an anti-illegal employment operation mounted by police and immigration officials.
Officers from the Immigration Department and Police detained 40 mainland visitors, 31 male and nine females, aged between 18 and 62, for breaching their conditions of stay by being involved in suspected parallel goods trading at the Advanced Technology Centre, Choi Fat Street and Choi Yuen Road.
A male Hong Kong resident and a female local resident, aged 30 and 45 respectively, were also arrested on suspicion of employing illegal workers. Officers also seized cartons of baby products, health food products and cosmetics during the operation.
The departments deployed 66 immigration officers and 47 police officers.
