Indian local politician beaten up for sex attack

A prominent Indian politician has been beaten up by villagers after he was caught red-handed allegedly trying to rape a woman, media reports said today.
The accused politician Bikramsingh Brahma, is a Congress party co-ordinator in a constituency in lower Assam, the Times of India reports.
Assam police believe there is a prima facie case of sexual assault and the suspect would be arrested. They believe the man had forcibly entered the woman’s house last night and was caught by villagers when she raised the alarm. He was then beaten up and stripped of his shirt.
