Liberals urge cap on unemployment assistance
(01-03 16:41)
The Liberal Party has called on the government to put a two-year cap on unemployment benefits for able-bodied recipients. The party floated the idea after interviewing 1,200 people and found that more than 70-percent believed there was serious abuse of the welfare system.
Liberal Party legislator James Tien Pei-chun says there should be tighter vetting to determine whether those suffering particular hardships deserved assistance after the two-year period, RTHK reports.
