Jockey Club members guilty of fraud
(01-03 12:43)

Two members of the Jockey Club have been found guilty of conspiracy to defraud over an application for racing membership.
The District Court heard that honourary voting member, Stanley Freedman, and a member, To Wing, falsely claimed they knew an applicant who paid HK$350,000 to a middle man to try to secure membership of the club between 2009 and 2010, RTHK reports.
Their lawyer said the pair did not receive any money, and submitted that a jail sentence would be too harsh a punishment for Freedman, who is aged 84 and in poor health.
He said To, who is a musician, had devoted his life to his profession and played for blind people.
The two men were freed on bail pending sentencing tomorrow.
