Italian stocks surge after US deal

Italian stocks rose by more than 3.0 percent on Wednesday on news of a fiscal deal in the United States Congress which averted the risk of steep tax rises and austerity budget cuts for the world's biggest economy.
The benchmark FTSE Mib index in Milan was up 3.08 percent at 16,775.20 points at around 1030 GMT, with bank shares leading the rally, AFP reports.
