StanChart teller admits theft and forgery

A former Standard Chartered teller pleaded guilty to three charges related to theft and forgery.
The suspect was charged with stealing HK$2.2 million from bank customer accounts.
A staff member discovered the crime when Simon Lai Sai-man, 32, wanted to withdraw money from a customer's account using a chop and forged passbook between April and August last year.
The defendant had previously been convicted of forging documents and served two years in prison, from 2008 to 2010.
He joined Standard Chartered six months after he was discharged from prison.
Lai has worked at Hang Seng Bank from 2004 to 2008.
The court adjourned until 23 January for backgrounds reports.
