Another young woman raped in India's capital by two infotech company workers
(01-02 09:19)

Tormented India reeling with shame after a brutal rape and death of a girl last week, began the new year with news of another rape of yet another young woman in the national capital, which has gained the dubious honor of being the rape capital of the world’s largest democracy.
Police said two male suspects have been arrested following the alleged rape of a 17-year-old Delhi schoolgirl at a new year's party in an upscale locality in south Delhi.
The Times of India reported today that the two accused work in leading IT companies and both are in their late 20s. While one is a computer engineer with an IT company, the other works in the HR department of a blue-chip tech and consulting multinational.
The accused were produced in court in the afternoon yesterday and later sent to Tihar jail, the paper said. The whole operation had been kept under wraps by the police. The paper said police would not confirm the report despite being contacted.
Police sources told the paper that the girl had said in her statement that one of the accused had befriended her on a social networking site a few months ago. The accused had expressed his wish to meet the victim several times and had chatted with her online.
