Raped Indian girl’s fiance bids silent goodbye at pyre

The male companion of the young Indian girl who died after being savagely raped by six men in a Delhi bus, said a silent goodbye to his loved one at the funeral pyre early today.
Media reports said the 28-year-old who is the only witness to the brutal attack on the unsuspecting young girl, who suffered intestinal injuries and a brain injury as well as other trauma, stayed until all rituals were completed and left without meeting her family members, the Indian Express reported today. His father was quoted in the paper as saying he had not spoken to anyone since the night of the attack.
The girl was cremated at about 7:30 am local time today. The funeral pyre was lit by the her father and two brothers.
